Loft Conversions Company for Manchester Stockport and Surrounding Areas
Although there are many different types of loft conversions, they all share one thing in common – the process they go through from start to finish. While we carry out all of the building work on your property you can still live in your home with no problems. We communicate with you regularly to keep you up to date on our progress, and ensure we are on track throughout all of the stages of the project. Here’s a step by step guide to the process we follow in a loft conversion development:
Step One – Planning
We sit down with you and discuss the planning of your loft, including any ideas you have as to what you want it to look like, we can show you images to give you some ideas and inspiration, as well as our own opinions to make sure you get the perfect loft conversion for you.
Step Two – Placing the Order
Once we have agreed on the specifications we will then complete the order form together, after this is done you will need to place a deposit to confirm booking, and we can commence work.
Step Three – Planning Permission
This step involves our Architects visiting you and survey the designated areas then draw up the plans, which could take up to 2 weeks. Once the drawings are completed we send them to you to have them reviewed, if you are ok with them we then send them off to the council to get planning permission approved (if required) and then building regulations. Once the council has approved the plans we are ready to get started and commence work on your conversion.
Step Four – Party Wall Awards
We supply you with documentation to give to your adjoining neighbours *IMPORTANT* work cannot take place until all of the Party Wall Awards are in place, for more information on Party Wall Awards please see the government information at https://www.gov.uk/party-wall-etc-act-1996-guidance
Step Five – The Build
The actual build generally takes between 10 and 12 weeks, although this could vary and is very much dependent on the type of conversion you are having. On some occasions, it could end up being done much quicker. We will be communicating with you throughout to give you a clearer picture of more exact timeframes pertaining to your conversion.
Step Six – Completion
Once we are happy with the work carried out, we arrange for either a certified private contactor or the council to come out and assess your new loft, and then provide you with a certificate of completion, as well as a Part P certificate which shows that your new loft conversion meets all of the current electrical regulations. Once that is done – Congratulations on your beautiful new loft conversion and all that extra space it has given you!
